Feminine Embodiment. LOVE your body.
Fall in love with your body as the conduit of your spirit and soul.
Embodiment is the union of body and spirit. Think of them as two entities in love, dancing through life in service of one another.
Our bodies are movers of energy. Our emotions are energy in motion. Our bodies are conduits of the energy within us and around us. Our bodies crave to be cherished, loved and cared for as the sacred containers of our spirits that they are. Our bodies give us deep access to our heart, to our emotions and to our spirit.
Our bodies are a source of awakening. Everything is energy and our bodies are the keepers of this energy. Our energy needs to stay fresh and it needs to move for our evolution and growth. Sometimes it will be still and calm and sometimes it will move like wild water. If it stagnates for too long, or our bodies resist our energy or spirits urge to move, dis-ease happens. When our hearts freeze or our emotions freeze, our bodies freeze. They depend on one another.
“In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: "When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?”
― Gabrielle Roth
The sweet territory of silence is the holy pause in the heart. The holy pause that reveals our truth. The holy pause that opens our eyes to what is truly present within us. The holy pause that allows us to hear and be guided by our spirit and intuition. The other three (dancing, singing and listening to stories) are using our bodies through the different senses as a gateway to experience and process this life, keeping our spirits vibrant. When we are numb to our bodies and lack inner stillness, we become disconnected from pieces of our soul.
I am emphasizing this to awaken you to the MAGIC OF YOUR BODY so that you cherish it, embrace it, and love it.
Sing. Dance. Surround yourself with color, beauty, nature, and art. Listen to music. Listen to stories. Soak up ALL the sensations of your body and imagine the love affair between your body and spirit as you do. Soak in the sensation of the sun upon your skin, the earth beneath your feet, the touch of a lovers hand in yours. The texture of fabric on your skin, the taste and sensation of taking in the nourishment of food and water, and the smell of fresh rain or flowers.
I invite you to fall in love with your body and the access to life it gives you. Notice any shame, criticism, judgement, pain, parts you love and parts you hate. See what happens with this new perspective of unionship between your spirit and body, and the way they depend on one another to live in joy.
Make a ritual out of awakening to the five senses. Use your body to experience pleasure and awaken to the joy of it. I challenge you to cherish your body, to adorn your body, to love your body, and to treat your body like a Queen. For it is the sacred container and the conduit of your spirit and soul.
The earth is a great ally on our journey of feminine embodiment. It’s making relationship with the physicality of this world knowing that it is all spirit underneath. To make relationship with our own body as a vessel of our own spirit is the first step, the next step is communing with the rest of the world as spirit embodied in all sorts of physical forms. Our five senses are the channels for this to manifest. Sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. Our sixth sense is what helps us makes sense of it all. Make an oath to yourself to deepen your relationship and deepen your awareness of each. Each sense is a great ally in coming home to yourself.
I have been taught very little about tantra and what I learned was through the oral tradition so what I’m about to share is the understanding that I interpreted through listening to one perspective (of many I’m sure).
In my understanding of tantra it was not about sex. It was the revolt against the shaming of our body and the human experience as sinful. It was about embracing this human life, this human body that is our home, this physical earth that nurtures us, and experiencing human pleasure for all that it was worth. It was embracing all the taboos that were shamed and reclaiming them as an access point to commune with our spirit and great spirit.
Our bodies are sacred vessels to connect with spirit. The earth is also a scared vessel of spirit. Plants, flowers, water, the soil and mountains, the air we breath, other humans, animals and all forms of life. Everything. It is all energy that is embodied in varying physical forms. Interacting with the physical forms as a portal to connect with the spirit of all are roots of feminine embodiment.
This means using our eyes to take in the beauty of nature all around us, this means listening to the sound of the ocean or the silence of the forest, this means feeling the crisp, cold air of fall making your cheeks rosy, or surrendering to the contact of another human being all as a way to connect with the divine. It means finding bliss in the many tastes of the earth and all it provides us, and relishing in the sweet fragrances that blow in the wind. It’s these pleasures that unite us with great spirit and unite us in the fleeting ecstasy of this body and this life here on earth.
The feminine is spiritual at heart. The feminine is intuitive at heart. The feminine is the one who walks between worlds. Who communes with the unseen. Feminine embodiment is the unionship between the physical and unseen. It’s living this life mindfully moving, aware of the relationship between two.
Feminine embodiment is surrendering to the pleasure of the five senses and being guided by our sixth sense.
The sixth sense is the one who can interoperate what is happening when their is disharmony or misalignment creating blockages; emotional blockages, physical blockages of pain or tension, blockages to pleasure, blockages to being able to move freely and blockages from our uninhibited feminine nature. It’s our sixth sense that guides us through the other five.
When then numbers of sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or violence are so high, along with the statistics of eating disorders, addiction and self harm, we must consider the impact this has on true feminine embodiment. Whether this has happened to you or not, whether you have been gripped by these things or not, it doesn’t matter because it has undoubtedly happened to women ALL AROUND YOU. The wounds are still inflicted upon you because we are mirrors for one another as women.
Most women don’t trust their own bodies or love their own bodies, and in turn we are subconsciously teaching one other to do the same Our embodiment of the feminine influences the women around us. To embody our beauty is to give permission to the women around us to do the same. It teaches the children, our sisters, the men, all of us, our power and worth as women who embody themselves. We are teaching one another how to reclaim ourselves, how to cherish ourselves and in what forms we can be “accepted”, what parts of ourselves can be trusted, what’s healthy and what illusions we need to shatter.
Feminine embodiment is vulnerable. It takes a lot of courage to surrender in such a way. There is so much fear, whether we realize it or not, in allowing our feminine spirits to express fully and uninhibitedly. We fear how our sisters will react to us, how men will react and how society will react to us.
This fear ripples. The inclination to hold back ripples. The wounded expressions ripple. To reclaim the power of woman, we must reclaim the power IN OURSELVES by finding the courage to surrender to this divine feminine energy flowing through us that is aching for our embrace and we must commit to this infinite journey of embracing it, shedding all the lies we’ve been taught to deny it.
Pain, tension, fear to move or speak and express ourselves uninhibitedly are all signs of misalignment. They are all signs that your heart or that your truth are being denied. They are all signs that you are holding your breath fighting surrender because of what will be revealed when you do.
Spiritual awakenings or kundalini awakenings are often described as coming with complete chaos or destruction of what is, or what was.
Spiritual awakenings or kundalini awakenings are often described to come with great physical discomfort or pain, even anxiety and confusion. When our bodies and spirits align, all is revealed. All we have held are breath against is released and it’s scary but its our path to liberation.
The body, mind and sprit are profoundly woven. No matter how disconnected they may get at times. Many women carry experiences of disassociation which is a natural response to various forms of trauma. This reclamation of embodying ourselves includes the process of nurturing a sense of safety to come back into ourselves, and the courage to allow the feelings that come with this to move.
This can be challenging but in the big picture is very rewarding. It’s a process of our spirits and bodies facing one another, looking eye to eye at the truth while we summon self compassion and self love as we feel, grieve and cultivate strength in the presence as we shed the past and heal.
As humans our bodies are the sacred vessels of our experience in this world. They will speak to us. Our spirits, our hearts, all speak to us through our bodies, while our sixth sense weaves together everything in between. Our bodies need to be cherished and trusted as the conduits of spirit that they are.
Our bodies can be conduits of inner freedom. Spiritual, emotional and physical liberation. If we trust we them. If we can surrender to them.
Wonderous woman, my wish to you is that you may you feel absolutely beautiful in your body. May you be head over heels in love with your body. May you cherish, adorn, be amazed and in awe of your body with immense gratitude. May you cherish your experience in your body, NEVER taking it for granted, tending it with great care. May you embrace it for all it gives you access to. The access to experience this life, to see the sunrise at dawn, to swim in the ocean, to dance, to sing, to paint, to love, to commune with the people you love most and to explore this beautiful. May you cherish this opportunity on earth to witness the magic of it all.
Feminine embodiment is a beautiful thing that in some ways has been forgotten. May we reclaim this for ourselves, for the generations before, and the generations to come.
With love,
Abby
